It was great to see everyone at the first Troop meeting of the school year.  Our next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 7th, is the Summer Camp Court of Honor, plus a Parents Meeting.  We will be recognizing all scouts that earned merit badges or rank advancements over the summer (excluding Eagle awards).  And if you have previously earned a MB or moved up in rank, but missed the last COH, then we'll recognize you as well, and hand out your awards.  In addition, we will be holding our Annual Parents Meeting, where we cover the ins and outs of Troop 101.  We'll go over the outing calendar, merit badge opportunities, the troop structure, what your son needs to do for advancement, and so on.  Parents should plan to stay for the entire meeting.  The First Year Scouts will have a separate FY Patrol meeting right after the awards and advancements.  But the older scouts will be stuck listening to their Scoutmaster, as some of the material is for them as well.  See you soon. 

On August 10th, Troop 101 scouts David Vail and Andrew Butler had their Eagle Boards of Review, and are now officially Eagle Scouts!!!  Feel free to drop them a note of congratulations.  We'll be having an Eagle Court of Honor in November to recognize each of them. Congratulations on your achievement in reaching Scouting's highest rank.  Well done !!!

Troop 101 scouts have arrived at the National jamboree !

A Scout is reverent. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion.

To encourage Scouts to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed a religious emblem program for the BSA.
And the Boy Scouts of America has approved these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform.

Throughout the remainder of the spring, we will be hosting several sessions for the "Duty to God" program in Troop 101.
Mr. Mike Usey, Sr. Pastor of College Park Baptist Church, will lead regular classes for scouts who share one of the Protestant faiths.

Parents who would like to become a merit badge counselor should see the Scoutmaster during Tuesday's meeting. Merit Badge Counselor signup sheets and Applications will be available on the table.

BSA policy now requires one leader on each outing to have completed Hazardous Weather Training online at www.myscouting.org.  This is recommended for Trip Leaders. The course takes about 45 minutes and you may print a certification card when finished.  Please notify Steve Worrell and Lyndal Butler if you have completed the course.
